Who am I?
I am Stefanus Potgieter and I was born in Namibia and I went to school there at Karibib Private School in a small town called Karibib. After completeing school I worked for a year on a mine, where I decided to study mining engineering. Now I am currently at the University of Pretoria and studying my pasion. This year we have JCP and my project was to go to my old school and to help the students there with every thing they were having troubles with.
The first day that I went to my old school I had a couple of meetings with the Principal, biology teacher and the mathematics teacher to decide and plan when I must do what with the students.
First I had to help the students with the science fair, because the regional science fair was around the corner and a lot of work had to be done. So I started to look at the science fair projects of the students that they presented at the local science fair, and I also had a look at the rules and the layout of the projects that was expected from the students. The next 4 days I helped them build their projects, because it was difficult for them as they stayed in the hostel and they did not have access to tools and hardware. I also gave the student a lot of advise and tips on their project presentations, and how to appropriately represent their projects to the judges, that I have learned in JSQ 216.
I was very proud of the students that were willing to put a lot of effort in their projects. Two students that were doing there project about water purification even got an invitation at the regional science fair to go to the American science fair even without going to the national science fair.
