Established in 1938, the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University offers advanced programmes leading to the professional degrees of: MPA in Public and Nonprofit Management and Policy, Master of Public Administration in Health Policy and Management, Master of Urban Planning, Executive Master of Public Administration, and Doctoral Programme.

The mission of the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service is to educate leaders in the field of public service.

The Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service is calling for applications for the African Women Public Service Fellowship.

The programme has been made possible by a donation from the Oprah Winfrey Foundation, which expands the opportunity for African women to prepare for public service in their home countries.

As fellows at New York University, African women study in one of two graduate programmes:

  • Two-year Master of Public Administration; or
  • One-year Executive MPA: Concentration on International Public Service Organisation.

The awards for either programme will support tuition, housing, travel to and from the United States and a small stipend to cover books and miscellaneous expenses.
Applicants will commit to return to their respective home countries at the conclusion of the programme with the goal of assuming a leadership position on the continent where they can meaningfully contribute to the challenges currently confronting Africa.

Prospective applicants must meet the general admissions criteria and be citizens and resident in an African country at the time of application.

For more information, refer to http://wagner.nyu.edu/admissions.

NYU Wagner's admissions committee will pay particular attention to applications from women with:

  • Strong academic records;
  • Demonstrated commitment to public service.

To apply, refer to http://wagner.nyu.edu/admissions/application.

There are not special forms or applications to fill out to be considered for the African Women Public Service Fellowship.

Enquiries: E-mail: wagner.admissions@nyu.edu.
